Greetings Sage clients!

It has been brought to our attention that if you run automatic Windows Update,  the most recent Microsoft update may have modified one of the Microsoft Office (Excel) files.  As a result, in some cases clients using Office 2016 Professional are experiencing issues with the Sage 300 Financial Reporter.

Sage has released the bulletin as a fix to this issue.  The fix is required if you are trying to generate financial reports from Sage 300 and you receive an error as follows:

Error: “Initializing FR Error (12) : Fail in starting Print Financial Statements” or you may be getting an error when trying to use Statement Designer, FR View.

Each workstation where the user prints Sage Financial reports will need to run the fix if you are running Office 2016 Professional edition.

The fix is as follows:

  1. Locate the file MSCOMCTL.ocx in the following folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\VFS\SystemX86 and re-name it to MSCOMCTL.BAK.
  2. Copy the same file from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.ocx to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\VFS\SystemX86 folder.

We encourage you to contact your IT staff to have them apply this fix if you are receiving the above error when attempting to print Financial Reports from the Sage 300 GL.

Thanks for your patience, please feel free to contact us if we can provide further information.
